Beermoney for Busy People! (2021) - No Disqualifications!

Beermoney for Busy People! (2021)

Hi! I try to make this post each year about sites that don't have DQs and are worth your time to use even if you have a busy life! I have removed sites and apps that no longer exist and have also added a new one I am using this yea! I am a full-time student and work while in school so I don't always have time to grind out surveys for hours at a time. To qualify for this list, the sites can't DQ and have to be worth your time to use! Hope these help! Let's get into it.

CrowdTap

CrowdTap is a great site for short polls and surveys that is available online and in a mobile app on iOS and Android! The questions are about things such as consumer goods, food products, and services. The polls pay 1.5 cents each and the short answer questions pay 10 cents each (converted from their points system). Some of these polls are combined into longer surveys, and some are single one question polls. All of them are well worth it for the time that they take and there are no DQ’s of any sort. Reward options include Amazon, Target, Walmart, Steam, Xbox, and more. You can cash out starting at $5 and I am able to cash out about once a week. Make sure to give quality answers and look out for attention checks because people have been banned for not giving quality answers. Definitely add this one to your routine if you have not yet.

PaidViewpoint (Non-Ref) (Referral)

This is a site with short surveys and no DQ’s. There are short surveys (10ish questions) to collect demographic data that pay $0.10. As you do these, your trait score increases. Having a high trait score makes it more likely to get high paying surveys. You have to be patient, and you might go weeks without a survey, but once you get to max trait score it is definitely worth it. I have a max trait score and I get at least one survey (if not more) per day. The real surveys that aren’t just for demographics can pay upwards of $2. You can cash out at $15 via PayPal, Amazon, or Walmart. Just as some inspiration to stick with it, after hitting max traitscore I am on track to make $150 on here this year!

Pinecone Research

Pinecone is a great survey site with surveys about consumer products and food that don’t DQ and pay $3 per 10ish minute survey. I get an average of one a week. They also sometimes send you samples of the products to review and I have gotten several of these this year! The catch is that you have to find an invite to join the panel. These can be found on offers or banner ads on GPT sites so keep an eye out for one! It is well worth your time to sign up. You can cash out for PayPal and many gift cards at a $5 minimum.

Prolific

This one is great. You take academic surveys for universities and researchers and get paid in cash. I have been getting tons of surveys on here right now about Covid-19. As long as you don’t miss attention checks you won’t ever get disqualified. Some people get multiple surveys a day and others get only a few a week based on demographics. Usually it slows down in the summer because school isn’t in session, but they’ve had a lot of surveys available this summer. Many surveys pay at least minimum wage. Pro tip, if you ever have a problem with a survey or miss an attention check that you noticed, try contacting the researcher and often they can fix the problem for you. You can cash out with PayPal with no fees (for U.S. users).

Zogo iOS | Android | Invite Code: 88W6A

Zogo is an iOS and Android app that pays you to learn about personal finance. It is backed by a variety of established banks and is actually quite interesting to learn through. While in the past it required a sponsor to be able to cash out, now anyone can earn in the app. You earn by answering a set of questions once daily through the “pineapple party” (the name for their currency). You earn pineapples based on your performance. You can cash out for a wide variety of gift cards such as Amazon and Target at $5. It is fun and worth it because you are learning valuable lessons about finance as well!

YouGov

YouGov is a survey site/app that pays anywhere from $0.50 to $2 per survey. You never disqualify. I get a couple surveys a week. Most of the surveys are about public policy, politics, or general opinions of companies. You get the best value for your points if you save up for the $100 cash out. They offer the $100 cash out in bank transfer and Amazon. The Amazon gift card option used to be a physical mailed card but now its an e-gift card so that makes it even better! They offer other gift cards but they are for smaller values at worse rates so I would avoid them. Available online, on android, and on iOS.

E-Poll Surveys (Non-Ref) (Referral)

E-poll is a survey site with surveys that don’t DQ. They send you surveys via email when they are available. The surveys are often about pop culture, TV shows, and celebrities. Some of them pay better than others for the time it takes to complete them, but most are well worth your time. Make sure to complete the surveys soon after you get the email, because some fill up within a day or so. You can cash out for several gift card options including Amazon and Starbucks. You get better rates with the higher valued gift cards so I always save up for the highest ones.

Be Forthright

Forthright is a survey site with a nice twist. You sign up and receive invitations to surveys via email. I don’t usually do their “partner surveys” because they often DQ and you can get stuck in an endless loop, which doesn’t really fit with the point of this post.. Their non-partner surveys are awesome. They pay well for the time spent but they also have one of the best disqualification bonuses I have ever seen. Every three surveys you take, regardless of whether you disqualify or not, you get a $2 bonus. That is $0.66 per survey on top of its base pay regardless of whether you qualify or not. The base pay for the surveys ranges from $1-3 depending on length, which varies from 10-30 mins. They usually take much less time than the estimated length. I get a non-partner survey about once every 1-2 weeks and made around $50 here last year with minimum time spent. They pay instantly with PayPal, Amazon, or Bitcoin with no minimum.

Perksy

Perksy is an app that sends you short surveys that they call “stacks”. These surveys generally pay anywhere from $0.30 to $1.00 and I get about one a week. You can’t DQ from these and they only take a minute or two. The minimum cashout is pretty high at $25 but when you sign up you get a signup bonus that gets you pretty close to your first cashout. I am able to cash out about once a year. They offer a lot of different gift cards but the most notable ones are Amazon and Target.

Google Opinion Rewards (Android) (iOS)

This one is quite popular and most of you have probably heard of it. This app is run by Google that will send you short surveys. If you have the app on iOS you can cash out to PayPal at $2, but on Android you can only cash out to Google Play balance. People who travel a lot or use a lot of Google services may get more surveys than others. I make $10ish dollars a year on here but I’ve seen others make more.

OnePulse (Android) (iOS)

This is one of my favorites. The app will send you “Pulses” that you can answer for cash. The surveys start out paying around $0.25 each but as you level up your account they pay more. Mine currently pay $0.34. They have non-paid pulses that can level up your account but those aren’t really worth doing. The minimum cash out is $20 via PayPal. I have made about $10 here just in the last week due to pulses about Covid-19.

SurveyMonkeyRewards (Android) (iOS)

This is an app that is owned by SurveyMonkey, the popular survey development company. It offers short surveys that pay anywhere from $0.25 to $0.50 depending on length. The surveys take no longer than 3-5 minutes. They technically can DQ, but this happens very rarely and only at the very beginning of a survey. The nice thing about the surveys is that they use SurveyMonkey's survey software so they are consistent and easy to complete. While they do send notifications, earnings on here depend on how often you check the app because they don't always notify you. I try to check the app at least once or twice a day. You can cash out at $5 for Amazon with instant payments.

SurveyMini (Android) (iOS)

SurveyMini is a little different. The app sends you surveys when you visit different stores to review your experience there. They ask you about your satisfaction with the store, what areas you bought from, etc. The surveys usually pay $0.10 and take about a minute, but some can randomly pay up to $0.75. The more you visit stores, the more surveys you will get. You can cash out at $10 but you get slightly better rates the more you save up. They offer e-gift cards such as iTunes, Xbox, and Visa, but sadly no Amazon. I am on pace to cash out for $25 twice this year.

Amazon Shopper Panel

This is a new one this year and has easily become the most worthwhile receipt apps out there. All you have to do is submit either 10 paper or email receipts per month to earn a $10 Amazon gift card at the end of the month. I have also received a short survey from them that paid in Amazon cards as well. While this app has a waitlist, go ahead and join. It only took me a couple weeks to get accepted. A dollar per receipt is extremely high for a receipt app!

Streetbees

This app has surveys with a more personal and fun spin. You get paid via PayPal for each task that you finish. There aren’t always tasks available but when there are, they often pay well. I had one for testing an app that paid $9! It’s a nice option for something a little different than traditional surveys.

🚀💎🙌 GME (Almost-)ULTIMATE DD 🙌💎🚀

🚀💎🙌 GME (Almost-)ULTIMATE DD 🙌💎🚀

EDIT 3 : CONGRATS TO ALL GME HOLDERS. TRUELY HONORED TO BE PART OF THE GME FAM. 🚀

Introduction

PDF VERSION HERE (20+ pages) with all the references and better quality illustrations but without updates and typo corrections. This is the FIRST VERSION of the post, but there could be more edits. I wanted to do a more extensive DD but as my exams start tomorrow I don’t have more time. If you want to take my work and extend it, please feel free to do so, just give a little shout out.
FIRST AND FOREMOST, SHOUTOUT TO 🚀💎🙌 GME GANG 💎🙌 🚀, YOU’RE IN MY ❤️.
This DD is just my own analysis. I put my money where my mouth is but this is definitely not advice. Do your own DD.
Last thing: Some stuff might be unsourced in this post but everything is sourced in the pdf version. While it’s not impossible that I might have missed some stuff, most of the time I put the stuff that I quote from other sources in italics. My ego is not big enough to feel like reformulating other people’s ideas and even less to steal other people's ideas. All I do is just gather insightful facts, figures, ideas and analysis.

Big picture

1.1 Macroeconomic View

I will be brief here, I think everyone knows what’s up basically.
Figure 1: although the USD is worth a lot less, the S&P 500 is doing alright. Thanks Jerome.
Enthusiasm is the key word here as we are in an environment with a very accommodative monetary and fiscal policy (thanks for the stimulus checks). Equities and Bitcoin hit record highs thanks to positive vaccine news and the markets hope for a fiscal package. The Federal Reserve is going heavy on asset purchases, bailouts and loans. And its balance sheet is expanding as well as money supply. Interest rates are extremely low.
Check for example, the Shiller PE ratio to see the enthusiasm driving the markets.
On a macro-level side from the risks related to the pandemic, the only worrying signs would be the shrinking money velocity or a suddenly-rising inflation (hyperinflation is bullish for stocks but not for the real economy).
That being said, we know how the FED and the government reacted to support the economy and the markets. Low interest rates and weak US dollar which is continuing to depreciate is very bullish for stocks overall.
I keep the macroeconomic view very short for that GME correlation with the S&P 500 is low - about 28% over the last 6 months. Moreover despite GME’s heavy reliance on brick-and-mortar stores, GME continues to get closer to profitability even with the pandemic.
If the pandemic would make the stock market to crash again during the trade, I wouldn't sell at a loss but wait a few days and then buy a LEAPS. This is my plan. Don't follow it, just make sure you have a plan in case it happens, it's important to avoid buying too much the first dip (because you might get a better price later) or worse, avoid a panic-selling and take a loss instead of tendies.

1.2 Sector(s) View

Figure 4: Video game market value worldwide from 2012 to 2023 (in billion USD)
Figure 5: Retail ecommerce sales in the United States from 2017 to 2024 (in million USD)
Video game total adressable market and ecommerce total adressable market keep growing, that's all we need to know on a macro-level. Now, the real question is not about the market itself but about the compny business model.

GameStop Corp.

  • Market cap $1.31B
  • 1-year performance 209.87%
  • Shares outstanding 69.75M
  • Short interest 68.13M (97.68% of the outstanding shares)
  • Held by insiders Between 13.6% to 27.3%
  • Held by institutions Between 110.5% to 122.0%
  • Owned by Ryan Cohen 12.9%
  • Owned by BlackRock 17.1%

2.2 Timeline

Table 1: GameStop timeline.
Short-term the sector is pretty hot with quarantines and the launch of next-generation consoles which will impact positively year-on-year sales growth. The pandemic could have been an opportunity but GME has still too many physical stores and not enough ecommerce presence yet to take advantage of it.
For the next earning release, the question is : how much PS5 and Xbox GameStop was able to get? And how much they sold in bundles (at high margins)?
Although it’s still unclear from what I’ve found it’s pretty bullish:
GameStop Corp. employees across the country were caught by surprise on Saturday when the video-game chain suddenly announced new shipments of the highly coveted PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles - bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-12-14/gamestop-employees-rattled-by-surprise-shipment-of-ps4-xbox

The recent Microsoft deal is extremely bullish for GameStop and could help the company to reach profitability sooner than expected. Here are the details about how it could impact GameStop’s profitability:
  • In years 3 and 4 combined, if just 5 million customers extend the subscription for two years, GameStop makes $180 million in incremental profit with zero cost involved. That's nearly a quarter of GameStop's current market cap in recurring income at 100% margin. - Justin Dopierala, “GameStop Revenue Sharing Agreement With Microsoft Shifts Sentiment.” SeekingAlpha.

2.2 Business Model and Management

  • Gamestop is omnichanneling into online activities according to Ryan Cohen recommendations although it doesn’t mean they will execute it perfectly this is bullish.
    • GameStop needs to evolve into a technology company that delights gamers and delivers exceptional digital experiences – not remain a video game retailer that overprioritizes its brick-and-mortar footprint and stumbles around the online ecosystem.” Ryan Cohen.
Table 2: GameStop is dangerously (for the shorts) getting close to profitability.
  • The company attributes the losses this quarter to the end of the console cycle and the limited hardware and accessory availability that came with that, as well as various game delays, and an 11% reduction in its store base - partially offset by recaptured sales at other locations and online. → The company should be profitable very soon despite being priced for bankruptcy for a long time → Expectations are incrediblly low until recently, more investors are believing in the vision esp. with Ryan Cohen.
  • GME e-commerce sales were up 257% year-over-year.
  • GME reduced its selling, general, and administrative expenses by $115 million.
  • GME repaid $10 million in debt in Q3 2020.
  • GME is diversifying sales to include more high margin items like PC accessories, PC monitors, etc (If I speculate, there may be partnerships with certain brands).
  • Focusing on loyalty programs like power ups and rebranding.
  • As of Feb. 2020, GameStop had 5,509 physical stores.
  • GME is closing unprofitable locations: they are closing 1,000 stores in Q1 2021 (by the end of March of 2021).
    • I’d like to quote a fellow GME gang member on this: It's no secret that brick and mortar is falling off, and if GameStop were to fight tooth and nail to remain a largely brick and mortar retailer they would go bankrupt in no time. It is also a fact that underperforming stores drain cash, which lowers net income and thus lowers earnings per share. Any store that is LOSING MONEY or is barely breaking even is keeping the stock price down because it's preventing future growth and killing net incomes. Closing underperforming stores will lead to a higher EPS and more cash that can be allocated to growth. - horny131313.
  • Gamestop is rebranding, and shifting to becoming the one stop video game and video game related product online retailer. While we haven't seen exactly what this will be, it is bullish to see them pivoting into other products besides just video games. Headsets, TVS, PC parts, you name it. You've seen the omnichannel memes, but we know that If they are bullshitting, Cohen will step in. Expect to see real progress made.
Some words from the last earnings:
  • "We anticipate, for the first time in many quarters, that the fourth quarter will include positive year-on-year sales growth and profitability*, reflecting the introduction of* new gaming consoles*, our* elevated omni-channel capabilities and continued benefits from our cost and efficiency initiatives*, even with the potential further negative impacts on our operations due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.*" George Sherman, CEO.
Possible catalysts (from KYJELLYTIME69):
  • A possible new Nintendo console release in ~1-2 years
  • Currently distressed commercial REITs = ability to negotiate lower rent = more $$$
  • Likely return of inflation (debatable but money supply ballooned and we are seeing velocity pick up a bit) with JPOW promising to keep rates at 0% even when inflation comes back = bullish for all stocks, bears will get slaughtered
  • OG printer Yellen manning the treasury in a month + possible dem senate = more stimmy checks = more money going into GME
  • If sales improve and balance sheets continue improve, we might see more credit upgrades
  • Better sales = possible dividend reinstatement, I couldn't care less about dividends but guess who's going to be paying? The shorts lol. If Sherman had balls, he would pull an OSTK and announce a special dividend , which will actually lead to a short squeeze while wsb laughs collectively as we get meme returns from this boomer move.

2.3 The Short-Squeeze Thesis

Figure 6: Stare statistics from Oct. 2019 to Nov. 2020
In terms of metrics, the DTC (days-to-cover) actually decreases, lowering the probability to get a short-squeeze short-term. Don’t get me wrong, this DOESN’T mean that it can’t happen, the % of shares shorted is still crazy high.
Days to cover: It gives investors an idea of potential future buying pressure. In the event of a rally in the stock, short sellers must buy back shares on the open market to close out their positions. Understandably, they will seek to purchase the shares back for the lowest price possible, and this urgency to get out of their positions could translate into sharp moves higher. The longer the buyback process takes, as referenced by the 'days to cover' metric, the longer the price rally may continue based solely on the need of short sellers to close their positions. Additionally, a high 'days to cover' ratio can often signal a potential short squeeze. This information can benefit a trader looking to make a quick profit by buying that company's shares ahead of the anticipated event actually coming to fruition. (Investopedia).
In terms of corporate actions, here is a quote from September mentioning the hostile takeover from Ryan which would trigger a massive short-squeeze, here is the explanation:
Short Squeeze Potential - If Ryan Cohen successfully negotiates a purchase price with the Board then the shareholders will have to vote on it. Unlike the proxy battle where Hestia and Permit were running a minority slate of directors, an offer to purchase GameStop would force institutions like Vanguard and Blackrock to call in their shares. By doing so, the shorts would be forced to close out their positions and GameStop would finally have the greatest short squeeze of all-time. Ironically, Cohen could use this opportunity to sell all of his shares and use the proceeds to entirely fund the acquisition of GameStop going down as the first person in history to acquire a billion dollar company... for absolutely nothing. In fact, his acquisition price would be less than zero. It will be exciting to see how it all plays out as according to Bloomberg/WSJ there are now 58 million shares short as of 8/31/2020 with only 65 million shares outstanding.
If I were short, I'd be sweating bullets right now. This won't end well and will ruin many.
Justin Dopierala is President and Founder of DOMO Capital.
How to know when the potential short-squeeze could happen?
  • Massive volume in short dated calls. [...] If you have shares, DO NOT SELL COVERED CALLS FROM THEM. by doing this you make the likelihood of a squeeze decrease. - horny131313
  • Unwind their short position with some behind closed doors deal. A scenario like this could include: Melvin offering shares of other stocks at discounted prices in exchange for GME shares or to unload a portion of their short shares. The second party to this deal could also offer to buy GME shares for higher than market prices - horny131313
If you want to do a further analysis on short-metrics I put some additional figures - you might find some kind of pattern idk.
Figure 8: Share statistics of December 2020
Figure 9: Available shares to short vs. fees in %.

2.4 Is GME Manipulated?

Maybe.
I know there is actually a prob. with the % daily returns (it isn't equal to 100% BUT the proportions still hold true on a non 100 point basis). The main point is that: negative daily returns were much higher than positive ones.
If you are familiar with the stock market, you might have noticed that winners do not act like this usually: total return was +21% yet there has been 53.3% red days. If you look at regular stocks which have positive cumulative returns it doesn’t happen that often (outliers aside).
This is why I suspect that the stock is being manipulated but the weird stats might be explained just because the stock kept being shorted although it was not enough to keep the price down.
Another opinion on this:
  • Melvin and BoA both have short positions, and are desperately trying to drive the price down. Unfortunately, it is getting harder and harder to convince people that gamestop is a failing business. They are sweating and will continue to sweat. Given the buy side volume, they could close these short positions gradually without triggering a massive squeeze, however it WILL drive the price up significantly higher than it is now. - horny131313.

2.5 What 2020 Has Taught Us?

I think at this point it is the wrong question to ask (is the stock being manipulated?). To me, the most important thing is what is the upside potential and the risks associated? Then, how to trade GME?
  • If you're new to gamestop, the volatility will seem scary but the shorts fight hard with this one. -10% days followed by +20% days are not unusual. - horny131313
I would like to elaborate on this very idea. For this, check GME statistics for 2020:
https://preview.redd.it/t05xum2zc6961.png?width=764&format=png&auto=webp&s=b2e092560bba3b3091a6fe8bf0bceea2ce7b9f5c
https://preview.redd.it/odbxo3sxc6961.png?width=772&format=png&auto=webp&s=7897f1dac841aa381b916046c3652e2d2c4ece68
  • Whether the stock is manipulated or not, MOST of the 2020 trading days were negative.
  • The worst daily returns were hard to handle honestly we are talking multiple worst than 14% daily drawdowns.
  • You could more than triple your money WITHOUT LEVERAGE.
  • Let’s say you bought late Apr. and sold late Aug. you could have been at -13% returns and +31% the next week if you had diamond hands. For the real diamond hands you had +147% returns the next 2 months.
Psychologically this was a hard trade for sure. But for those who had diamond hands, it was pretty amazing. If you don’t feel comfortable being at -20% or even -30% returns for months before the stock literally BLOWS UP… Reduce your position and diamond hand with a smaller size. Better to win with less than lose with a lot…
TLTR: DIAMOND-HAND THIS OR DON’T TRADE THIS AT ALL.

Risks

3.1 Upside Risks

  • RC Ventures LLC increases its stake.
    • It could be VERY soon. On the 31 December 2020, someone bought 900K shares, it could be Ryan Cohen given the size of its last purchases:
Figure 10: Last RC Ventures GME Purchases. Notice how the biggest numbers (e.g. 800K & 500K) while the smaller ones weren't (e.g. 320K, 256K or 128K).
Figure 11: Check who tweeted this on the same date as the 900K shares purchase?
EDIT : the recent 900K-share purchase after hours were not "purchases", it was quarterly option settlement. - KYJELLYTIME69.
  • This is very bullish because after the disclosure of additional buying from Cohen last time, even though it strangely took 1 full trading day for the market to pop up, GME shot up 29%.
  • Surprise investors with their holiday sales and/or EPS.
  • RC Ventures LLC gets more than one seat on the board.
  • RC Ventures LLC begins a hostile takeover.
    • On top of its increasing stake, Ryan is supported by both a lot of small and now large investors too.
    • Moreover “there is a decent amount of evidence that Ryan Cohen spent the summer of 2020 hiring a badass lawyer and crafting a pretty solid plan to wrest control of a struggling Mall-based gaming retailer from its out of touch Boomer Board and CEO so he can turn it into an ecommerce juggernaut like his baby Chewy. the attorney listed on each of the 13Ds filed by RC Ventures. [...] Chris Davis, Activist Attorney Extraordinaire and His Successful Use of the Consent Solicitation to Remove Dipshit Boards/CEOs” - CPTHubbard.
  • Moody's Upgrades GameStop's credit rating a second time in a row
    • Hoping for a PR soon confirming the recent redemption of the 2021 notes. Potential credit upgrade from Moodys could come now that GME has officially redeemed 63% of their 2021 notes. If we don't get that now, we should get it in March when the entirety of the 2021 notes are retired. Debt considered investment grade and not junk is a big positive and one most overlook. - Stonksflyingup
  • Short sellers close a part of their position huge short position.
  • A major hedge fund takes a significant position on GME.
  • Dividend reintroduction.

3.2 Downside Risks

  • New short sellers open a position and current ones scale up theirs.
  • Momentum towards profitability dies out and the company goes bankrupt.
    • Honestly if you read this far you know this is extremely unlikely.
  • Share dilution.

3.3 Overview

Table 6: Upside risks
Table 7: Downside risks

3.4 Commentary

Figure 12: GME is one of or even THE most shorted stock for its valuation (in terms of % short interest).
This means two things:
  • It is very unlikely for the shorts to continue to short the company especially when its credit rating is being upgraded - we will see if it keeps getting upgraded or not in March.
  • If the shorts get to short it more (or new short sellers open a position) it will:
    • Drive the stock price down (lower market cap), drive the short ratio higher making the unwinding of the short sellers even harder and as a result making the probability to have a short-squeeze VERY BIG if good events happen moving forward.
    • Push Ryan Cohen to accelerate its plans.
      • I will personally increase my share-position if it happens.

Conclusion

4.1 Prices Targets

Here is a summary of my post:
When the short % of free float went from a high point (~160%) at around February 2020 to a low point (~140%) - which by the way are in absolute terms both huge numbers- the stock went up ~94% BUT most of the gain took place at 2 key moments: at the recovery of the market crash and then in late August which shows that 💎🙌-ing is key to capture most of the gains.
Figure 13: GME returns from 3 Feb. 2020 to 1 Sept. 2020
Why do I say this? Because when holding the stock you could “feel” like you bled when you watch the stats:
Positive daily returns Negative daily returns
49.3 % 50.7 %
But IT WAS IN FACT THE SHORT SELLERS WHO BLED HARD:
Best daily return Worst daily return
23.0 % -13.7 %
Imagine you sold GME when the -13.7% happened. You would not have captured the 94% returns. So just 💎🙌 and let those shorts go bankrupt.

FAQ 1 : Is GameStop going bankrupt? 300%+ yearly growth ecom sales, already closing top ~20% of their most unprofitable locations, high margin partnership with Microsoft, new gaming console generation, Moody's recent credit upgrade on 8 Jul 2020 from C (negative outlook) to B3 (stable outlook)... So extremely unlikely.
FAQ 2 : GameStop employees complain about the company, so is the stock going down? Well listen to Apple's iPhone manufacturers or Amazon employees... There is no correlation between their words and the stock price, if any there is a negative one.
Positions: shares, Nov. calls and some cash on the sidelines to buy the dips.

Bitcoin Newcomers FAQ - Please read!

Welcome to the /Bitcoin Sticky FAQ

You've probably been hearing a lot about Bitcoin recently and are wondering what's the big deal? Most of your questions should be answered by the resources below but if you have additional questions feel free to ask them in the comments.
It all started with the release of Satoshi Nakamoto's whitepaper however that will probably go over the head of most readers so we recommend the following articles/books/videos as a good starting point for understanding how bitcoin works and a little about its long term potential:
Some other great resources include Michael Saylor's "Bitcoin for Everybody"' course, Jameson Lopp's resource page, Gigi's resource page, and James D'Angelo's Bitcoin 101 Blackboard series. Some excellent writing on Bitcoin's value proposition and future can be found at the Satoshi Nakamoto Institute.
If you are technically or academically inclined check out developer resources and peer-reviewed research papers, course lectures from both MIT and Princeton as well as future protocol improvements and scaling resources. Some Bitcoin statistics can be found here, here and here. MicroStrategy's Bitcoin for Corporations is an excellent open source series on corporate legal and financial bitcoin integration.
You can also see the number of times Bitcoin was declared dead by the media (LOL) and what you could have earned if you didn't listen to them! XD

Key properties of Bitcoin

Where can I buy bitcoin?

Bitcoin.org and BuyBitcoinWorldwide.com are helpful sites for beginners. You can buy or sell any amount of bitcoin (even just a few dollars worth) and there are several easy methods to purchase bitcoin with cash, credit card or bank transfer. Some of the more popular resources are below, also check out the bitcoinity exchange resources for a larger list of options for purchases.
You can also purchase in cash with local ATMs. If you would like your paycheck automatically converted to bitcoin use Bitwage.
Note: Bitcoin are valued at whatever market price people are willing to pay for them in balancing act of supply vs demand. Unlike traditional markets, bitcoin markets operate 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.

Securing your bitcoin

With bitcoin you can "Be your own bank" and personally secure your bitcoin OR you can use third party companies aka "Bitcoin banks" which will hold the bitcoin for you.
Note: For increased security, use Two Factor Authentication (2FA) everywhere it is offered, including email!
2FA requires a second confirmation code or a physical security key to access your account making it much harder for thieves to gain access. Google Authenticator and Authy are the two most popular 2FA services, download links are below. Make sure you create backups of your 2FA codes.
Avoid using your cell number for 2FA. Hackers have been using a technique called "SIM swapping" to impersonate users and steal bitcoin off exchanges.
Google Auth Authy OTP Auth andOTP
Android Android N/A Android
iOS iOS iOS N/A
Physical security keys (FIDO U2F) offer stronger security than Google Auth / Authy and other TOTP-based apps, because the secret code never leaves the device and it uses bi-directional authentication so it prevents phishing. If you lose the device though, you could lose access to your account, so always use 2 or more security keys with a given account so you have backups. See Yubikey or Titan to purchase security keys.
Both Coinbase and Gemini support physical security keys.

Watch out for scams

As mentioned above, Bitcoin is decentralized, which by definition means there is no official website or Twitter handle or spokesperson or CEO. However, all money attracts thieves. This combination unfortunately results in scammers running official sounding names or pretending to be an authority on YouTube or social media. Many scammers throughout the years have claimed to be the inventor of Bitcoin. Websites like bitcoin(dot)com and the r / btc subreddit are active scams. Almost all altcoins (shitcoins) are marketed heavily with big promises but are really just designed to separate you from your bitcoin. So be careful: any resource, including all linked in this document, may in the future turn evil. As they say in our community, "Don't trust, verify".

Common Bitcoin Myths

Often the same concerns arise about Bitcoin from newcomers. Questions such as:

Can I mine bitcoin?

Mining bitcoin can be a fun learning experience, but be aware that you will most likely operate at a loss. Newcomers are often advised to stay away from mining unless they are only interested in it as a hobby similar to folding at home. If you want to learn more about mining you can read the mining FAQ. A Week of Eating & Drinking in GDL, Mexico

Number of People in Household: 2, me and S
Pets: 7 dogs, ma babies, one’s allergic to chicken.
Average Monthly Grocery Budget: $250 *US dollars (Around 5k pesos) Does not include eating out or alcohol, does include pet food.
Dietary Restrictions: None, although we try to avoid meat, as I’m allergic (just get super constipated if I eat a lot)
Occupation: me – IT, S – Investment banking back office
Location: Guadalajara, Mexico
Stores I typically shop at: Walmart, Costco, Sam’s, local stores, the butcher also sells veggies, fruits and grains so pretty much anything fresh comes from that store, Oxxo
We have been working from home since March 2020, we have a 2 bedroom house so one of the bedrooms is now our office, we’ll share our breakfasts in the desk we share in our office every day. We used to work at the same place back in 2019, and we had every meal together since 2016 we like to share plates/food a lot. We are actually very happy to be at home and to be able to work together again and be with our dogs.
DAY ONE, Monday:
9:30 am - S starts his shift at 7am, and I at 8 am. Mornings are crazy, lots of meetings going on. Finally have time to feed the doggos. All of them eat the same kibble, except one, that’s allergic to chicken (Hestia), she gets the fancy (expensive) salmon kibble. 3 of them will need their plates filled with water as they seem to have issues eating dry kibble, including Hestia. Kibble soup anyone? Hestia didn’t eat a thing, for the second day in a row, we’ll see how it goes, probably will need to go to the vet at some point this week. She’s been a complicated dog since birth, but I love her.
10:30 am – Coffee for both S and me. Instant coffee with cream and sugar for me, cream only for S. Not a good coffee, but we have tons of it. S’s office didn’t allow them to have a coffee machine, so they used instant coffee and they used to buy this big can for all the team to share. Since they are working from home the coffee can was left practically untouched at the office. A few weeks ago, they called S to have him retrieve his office stuff, mugs, pictures and such, since it seems they are closing that location and he took the coffee can (nobody else in the team wanted it). And now we are slowly working our way through 2 kg of bad coffee.
11:00 am - Breakfast, once S had a chance to leave the computer. Pita bread quesadilla, a classic from my family (part arab), S just loves them. Originally 1 with adobera cheese for me, two with turkey ham, hummus and jocoque seco preparado (similar to labneh) for S, but I ended up eating half of one of S’s fancy quesadillas. S is in charge of the kitchen. He enjoys it and he’s a very good cook. I can follow a recipe but hate cooking. I take other responsibilities around here like cleaning the bathrooms and the backyard (with 7 dogs that means lots of poops!).
11:30 am - More coffee! Again, cream and sugar for me, cream only for S.
5:00pm - Time to feed the babies again. This time all of them ate normally, hopefully that means Hestia is feeling better.
6:15 pm – Dinner time! Today we had leftovers, we had one stuffed portobello mushroom from yesterday and a bowl of miso soup from last week. The portobello was stuffed with adobera cheese, a little bit bacon and tomato sauce with veggies (zucchini, sweet corn, onions). Miso soup had potatoes, garlic, mushrooms and chili. Since it’s not enough for 2 people, S put some onion rings on the oven, 9 pieces for me, and 9 for S. We shared the bowl of miso and the portobello and had a couple of beers each.
9:00 pm – S and P (a friend) play Death by daylight almost every day at this time, sometimes I’ll pay attention to their game and chat, they invite me to their party every time so we can all hear each other. Sometimes I ignore them and scroll through reddit. Either way this is usually accompanied by snacks. Today I had a bowl of cereal (Trix) and S a couple baklava, we buy a big package every year in Costco, and a small matcha KitKat that my sister gave me for Christmas, I hate them, the intention was good, but don’t like matcha flavor at all.
DAY TWO, Tuesday:
8:00 am – Hectic morning for me, lots of meetings. S fed the doggos and made coffee for both of us. Hestia didn’t want to eat, again. We will be going to the vet today after work; she seems in pain all over. She has arthritis, so cold weather is bad for her, also seems like she’s having stomach issues and she’s scratching like crazy, which means she definitely ate some poop and her allergies are flaring up. She will never learn…
10:00 am – Just ended my last meeting and S brought our breakfast to the office, today we are having tacos. A taco is whatever in a tortilla, that’s all that’s required. S stir-fried some potatoes, onions, mushrooms, serrano pepper and a little bacon and heated some corn tortillas. 3 tortillas for each. He used just one serrano pepper and it was very spicy! Enough to make our noses watery, probably more spacy than a breakfast should be jaja, but those peppers are unpredictable, sometimes you’ll add 9 to a salsa and it’s “spicy” and sometimes you use ONE chili and it’s SPICY AF!
There were some leftovers, so S is already thinking about adding a couple eggs tomorrow and having that for breakfast.
11:00 am – Second coffee for both of us.
4:00pm – Had to request an early leave, since we live outside the city and I needed to go to the vet I wanted to go out as early as possible, so I don’t get stuck on traffic. S stayed home so he can make dinner do some cleaning around the house and feed the rest of the hairy creatures. Since me and Hestia are out, he gave some wet dog food we have on the freezer to ma babies. Since this wet dog food has chicken, we can’t give it to Hestia and she’ll refuse to eat kibble while the rest have a feast, so we usually give her a hotdog.
6:00pm – Back from the vet. Hestia is ok, but she had a shot for her allergies and must take some medicine for her tummy. Hopefully is just that, she ate normally after returning. We’ll keep an eye on her as she’s an older dog, so the vet recommended blood tests if she still refused to eat after the shot.
6:45pm – Dinner time. Today we ate chickpea soup. He had the chickpeas on water all morning and cooked them on the pressure cooker. After that it’s just adding dried chili, sesame oil, chopped onions and garlic. I’ve been asking for this soup since last week, it’s spicy and warm and just perfect for the cold weather. We accompanied the soup with a few tortilla strips to add some crunch, I had just a handful, but S loves the tortillas strips, so he added an extra portion to his plate. We drank just plain water with this meal.
9:10pm – No DBD tonight, we just cuddled on bed while we listened to creepy stories on YouTube. S has a sweet tooth, so eventually he got up and went to the kitchen to find something to eat. I was too cold to move and wasn’t hungry, so I stayed on bed. S came back with a cup of milk and a package of Meji’s Hello Panda chocolate cookies, also part of the assorted sweets my sister included on my Christmas gift. I’m very picky with my sweets, to be honest I don’t like just any chocolate, any cake, or any cookie so I had a couple cookies just to try them out and some sips of milk and left the rest for S to enjoy.
DAY THREE, Wednesday:
9:00am – S feed the doggos. I’m, as usual, going crazy with morning meetings. S made coffee for both of us and is preparing breakfast.
10:00 am – Finally free from calls! Today S made pita bread quesadillas again. Mine with adobera cheese and turkey ham (that’s what we would call a sincronizada, pretty much a quesadilla with ham). S’s quesadilla had adobera, ham, hummus and jocoque, a handful of baby carrots and some hummus and jocoque to deep them in. S also ate yesterday’s breakfast leftovers (stir-fried potatoes and mushrooms) but it was just a couple spoons maybe enough to fill in one of the quesadillas.
We had our second coffee and S refilled our water bottles as I don’t drink enough water… a never-ending struggle of mine.
5:00 pm – The hairy beasts have eaten, Hestia has eaten just fine, seems like the medicine is working. We went to the convenience store Oxxo, just like a 7eleven, but Mexican, they are EVERYWERE, to buy cigarettes for me (I know it’s bad… leave me alone) and also, I wanted to buy a snack for later today. We ended up buying two cokes and a package of cookies for me. When we came back we did some cleaning around the house and the Doggos got a couple chicken free treats.
6:10pm – Time to eat. Chickpea soup from yesterday with a handful of tortilla strips for me and a little extra for S. Today we are having a Mexican coke in it’s glass bottle to wash it down, I’m partially addict to coke, so I try not to buy too often. We bought two bottles, but we’ll share one today, and the other one will stay in the fridge until tomorrow. Those bottles are reusable, so you must save them and bring them back whenever you want to buy another one, even though they are common, you can’t get these cokes everywhere, we are lucky to have an Oxxo near us that does sells them, they are cheaper, $12 pesos, around $.50 US cents, and they are more ecological than the plastic version.
9:30 pm – DBD rank reset was today, we are all exited, and the games have been interesting. S made himself a drink, mineral water with salt, lemon and tequila, it was a big class (1lt). At some point S goes downstairs and comes back with a cup of milk and my cookies (that we will share). These are some of the few cookies I actually like, Tia Rosa’s blackberry Tartinas. I only ate two of them because they are very, very sweet and I get overwhelmed easily. I took a few sips of milk and contemplated the idea of going downstairs to get a handful of chips or maybe microwave some popcorn to get rid of the sweet flavor, but eventually gave up on the idea, thanks cold! you are keeping me thin(ish)! S ate his 3 cookies and kept paying, I eventually fell asleep, as usual.
DAY FOUR, Thursday:
8:00am – Early start today. Backstory: At the end of 2019 I realized my new job included some weird perks, like a free yoga lesson every Thursday at the office. I’ve always wanted to try yoga, so I started going and I loved it. It helped me to stay in the same weight, that even though is more than it should, it’s not that much, and it keeps me flexible. Around January 2020 S stated to join me at home, we would do 30 min – 1 hr a day of yoga together every day after work. S also run every day for at least half an hour, by this point he could easily run 15km a day
When the pandemic started, and we started to work from home, we took our lunch hours at 9am so we could do some yoga together, that way we managed to stay in the same weight since the beginning of the pandemic. We kept doing at least 3 days of yoga a week during most of 2020. S stopped running around march as we lived in a high-risk area and people just do not use facemasks.
Around mid-November I got my first tattoo ever; a relatively big piece and they cover it with a medical grade plastic thing to have it heal. That meant that sweating would made the plastic fall, and I had to keep it on for 15 days, so I stopped the yoga. After that it just snowballed with all the December festivities and we stopped all together. But we’ve noticed more prominent bellies and we decided we need to go back to yoga. We agreed to wake up at 6:30am so we can do some yoga before working, and at lest today, it was a success.
Came 8 am we already finished, and we are having our first cup of coffee of the day. S fed tha babies and stayed downstairs making breakfast. I had to run to my morning meetings.
9:00 am – Today S made a sandwich with turkey ham, American cheese, gouda, spinach and Dijon mustard. We had ½ of a sandwich each so we could have another piece of bread with cream cheese and strawberry marmalade, this way we’ll eat two pieces of bread each instead of 3, I really wanted both the sandwich and the cream cheese/marmalade. S refilled our coffees.
1:15 pm – S went to the kitchen and came back with more coffee and half a pita bread with hummus for himself. I’m just drinking water.
5:00 pm - I usually take my “lunch hour” from 4pm to 5pm, but instead of actually having lunch, we go out to walk with the hairy beasts. We don’t go out with all 7 of them at the same time, we walk them in groups of 2 and 3. Once we came back from our walk S fed them and since we were hungry we took a hand full of Bokado’s Chicharron, which is deep fried pig skin. I know, it sounds horrible, but as a picky meat eater I can tell you is not that bad, mostly cause those store brand packages are puffed cornmeal batter instead of actual pig skin. S is making dinner while I assist by providing entertainment (we like to read reddit, mostly relationships advise, am I the asshole, and discuss what would we do/feel)
7:10 pm – Dinner is ready, today we had to get rid of old veggies, so S made a creamy broccoli & carrot soup and stir-fried green beans. Since it’s not that much, he made onion rings, 8 pieces each. We shared our last can of leftover beer from the previous weekend and the other bottle of coke. As a dessert we had leftover berries with leftover homemade whipped cream (S doing of course).
In most cities in Mexico you can find people selling all kind of crap on at stop lights, mostly on big avenues. Since a couple years back, in our city you can go to some specific stop lights and buy berries. They will sell 4 1lt plastic cups filled with strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and sometimes grapes or peaches or some other fruit depending on the season for $5-8 dollars ($100-150 pesos). So whenever we go by one of these avenues and have cash at hand we’ll buy a package and freeze some of them to use them as snack, as dessert, or for smoothies.
9:30 pm – DBD, as usual, I’ve been craving some popcorn. S ran to the kitchen in between games to make some microwave popcorn and grabbed some more chicharron. We shared the bag of popcorn, and by that, I mean I ate most of it. Love popcorn. S ate the chicharron by himself cause I don’t like it that much, and I had popcorn, and because he added Velentina sauce), which I hate because it’s not even spicy, just has a lot of vinegar and that’s all I can smell. But then again I dislike all those bottled salsas, Vlentina, Tabasco, Tapatio (for people in the US, we can’t find it here very easily), unlike pretty much every other mexican jaja, even tho I do like homemade salsas and spicy/hot food.
S made himself 1lt of mineral water, tamarind vodka, lemon and salt, I had the rest of the tamarind vodka on a shot, I sipped my way through it while eating popcorn. I highly recommend you try this vodka… especially good for piñas coladas.
10:30 pm – S brought a couple baklava that he pretty much ate by himself, I’m too sleepy to eat.
DAY FIVE, Friday:
7:00 am – Up for Yoga, babies were fed, Hestia seems to be eating without any issues now.
8:30 am – I’m in my usual morning chaos when S brings breakfast. Today I’m having Greek yogurt with honey, raw oats and amaranth, and the usual instant coffee. S is having yogurt as mentioned above, 1 ½ pita bread with hummus to dip and a hot dog (without the bun).
Since it was my mom’s birthday on Tuesday we are going to their house for dinner. They are ordering to go in a restaurant, and we’ll eat at their house.
5:00 pm – We are almost ready to go, just fed the babies.
7:00 pm – Take out from Outback Steakhouse. I ordered “Chicken Fried Chicken”, which is fried chicken (duhh) with gravy, side dishes included are sweet corn with butter and mashed potatoes. S had “Alice Spring Chicken” which is grilled chicken with cheese, mushrooms and bacon; his included side dish was French fries. Additionally, we ordered a potato soup (garnished with cheese, bacon bits and chives) and a “California Salad” which is assorted lettuces, purple cabbage, spinach, green apples, walnuts, bacon bits, tomatoes, fetta cheese, and grilled chicken with honey-vinegar dressing. Both the soup and the salad were to share (S and me). S had a beer and a glass of coke during our stay with my parents and I had a “Charro negro” (tequila+coke) and later on just coke, as I was driving. No dessert, we are all full.
I didn’t eat my hole dish, I ate only half my corn, half my chicken and pretty much just tasted the mashed potatoes. I took it all to go, and we are planning on sharing it tomorrow.
I didn’t check exactly what everyone else had, but I remember everyone ordering BBQ ribs, but my grandpa, who ordered salmon.
11:00pm –We stopped at the liquor store before coming back cause I wanted more tamarind vodka and S wanted some beers, but they didn’t had the specific brand of beer we wanted (Victoria) so we just bought the vodka.
Once at home I poured myself a shot, and S made himself his usual 1tl of mineral water with lemon, salt and vodka. I watched S play for some time and fell asleep at some point.
DAY SIX, Saturday:
10:50 am – Late start today. I’ve been awake since around 8 am, but I refused to move, S slept late since he kept playing so he’s stayed in bed until later than usual. The fury creatures were restless, but they know (or I think the suspect) it’s a weekend and they just climbed into the bed with me for snuggles and stayed calm until S started moving.
Finally S woke up and got down to make breakfast while I feed ma’ behbehs. Today, 3 quesadillas (with corn tortillas and adobera) for each, and stir-fried potatoes, mushrooms and serrano peppers to stuff them, + salsa! To drink, a coffee each and a shared glass of cranberry juice.
6:00 pm (ish) – We re-heated my chicken, mashed potatoes and corn and added some leftover carrot & broccoli soup so it would be enough for both of us. We each had a bowl of soup but shared the plate with the chicken. I would never date someone that doesn’t like to share their meal. Sharing is caring!! (for me) and sometimes, most of the time, don’t ask, just go for it and grab a fry or a bite. Will never eat the last piece of anything nor eat most of your food tho! and my plate is always open for people to grab anything (except the last piece).
We fed the doggos around this time but I don’t remember the exact time… oops!
8:40 pm – We were watching Amazon Prime, S made himself a drink (the one you already know) and poured me a shot of vodka. He also made some chambray potatoes with salsa to nibble. They were spicy and sour, the salsa was pretty much serrano peppers, lemon, salt and pepper. The potatoes were boiled first and then sauteed. Second shot of vodka for me!
11:00pm – S wanted to make some cookies… We bought some Pillsbury cookie dough from Chedraui Select, a store that has many imports. This is the first time we saw cookie dough! So we had to try them. 15 minutes later, we had 10 beautiful cookies. S poured a glass of milk and we ate 4 cookies each and left 2 for tomorrow.
DAY SEVEN, Sunday:
11:20 am – The beasts are fed. S made 2 pieces of French toast with cinnamon and maple sirup for me and he had 2 pieces of bread with cream cheese and raspberry marmalade. He also grilled two hotdogs, one for me and one for himself, we had coffee to drink.
6:00pm – S made fettuccini alfredo for dinner today. Just the pasta with the sauce and water to drink. We had the 2 leftover cookies as dessert. Babies, as usual, ate around this time too.
9:00 pm – S made himself his vodka and mineral water and picked the rest of the potatoes to nibble while paying DBD. Today I decided to watch a documentary instead of joining their game and made myself a Chai tea (I was SO cold and wanted something to warm me up). I felt asleep at some point and moved to the bed later when S came to retrieve me jaja.
Reflection: I thought we ate waaay more than what we actually eat. Our portions are not as big and I notice it mostly when eating with more people, also, we tend to eat only two meals a day. I dislike most sweets; I didn’t notice how often I try cookies or chocolates and just to leave S to eat pretty much all of it. Also, I love sharing plates!!
Lastly, I don’t understand what people eat for breakfast. Tacos are life, but quesadillas are as important!

Unsolicited advice on how to increase your average hourly earnings

I'm posting this because Rod Stewart voice "I wish, that, I knew what I know now" haha
Qualifications and disclaimers: I've dashed for 6 months (not a continuous 6 months) in two different cities (one in the Northeast with a population of 200k metro, one in the South with a population of 1 mil metro) and completed over 1400 deliveries, never being below a 4.8 rating (zero ratings below 3 star that I know of) and never making less than $12/hr but averaging $20/hr before gas expense. I've typically driven 3-4 hours at a time 2x a day, 5-6 days a week. I drive a small sedan that gets 27-30 miles per gallon depending on how I'm driving.
This advice comes from a driving full time vantage but most if not all still applies to part time driving as I haven't always had "top dasher" (priority status based on ratings) and haven't always driven full time!
Tip #1: You get what you give. Like most things in life, if you skirt effort you get less. The "all I do is pick it up and drop it off" attitude will result in low scores, less tips, and leave you unhappy. I found the Uber Eats app took this attitude and driving Uber Eats was a bad experience for me. Treat the delivery like you're getting your own food. Check for accuracy when you can, make sure there are straws and utensils, don't let pizza/cake/etc tip over, make sure it's the right order (seriously). Will people still stiff you on tips and treat you poorly? Sometimes (sometimes often in one day) of course, but if you take care with every delivery, when you run into the people that add tips and leave good reviews you'll get them and it adds up!
Tip #2 Technology and people both can and will screw up. It's inevitable! The app crashes, the restaurant's app crashes, the employees do things wrong, customers do things wrong, and yes, even you will do things wrong. Even if you don't drive full time, you'll go to the same stores and see the same people, and if you're a jerk they'll remember you, and if you treat them with patience and understanding they'll remember you. When you've got the restaurant employees on your side things go faster and smoother, which means more orders, more tips, more good reviews, more money in your pocket. There are multiple locations that go out of their way to make sure I get my order fast and right when they see me because they like me. Lots of places give me free food and drinks because I do a good job. It can be common!
Tip #3: Communicate with your customer! I have a standard message I paste to every single delivery I do. Once I slide "arrived" at the restaurant I text the customer saying my name, that I always wear a mask and disinfect after each delivery, I'll default to contactless delivery unless they've instructed otherwise, and I end letting them know delivery service is super busy I usually have more than one order at a time but I'll be as quick as I safely can be. I've gotten tons of cash tips on top of app tips because I'm showing I care. If the restaurant is backed up, I'll let them know "hey just an update, McDonald's is super busy right now I'll do what I can to get your order as fast as possible." People love this and also helps prevent bad ratings.
Tip #4: I'm sure people will argue this but I stand by it because I make a lot of money with this philosophy: at least a dollar a mile, take it as long as it's not ending you more than 5-6 miles from a busy spot. If it's $10+ I'll probably take it as long as it's not over 15 miles. Are there times where this only makes me $5 an hour? Sure, but there are a lot more times where there's added tip, cash tip, and added on deliveries (more pay for usually a small added distance) when I'm en route because everyone else is crying about the distance! This is not a perfect philosophy, and there are plenty of times where I see $3 for 5 miles and think screw that jerk and decline or I see $9 for 10 miles and I'm just not in the mood but I'm never below 75% acceptance rate. Which leads to the next tip...
Tip #5: Accept all the grocery/Walgreens/etc deliveries! These are usually third party delivery requests and tips can only be added after the fact, but if you communicate with the customer you'll get tips. Not every time, but you can get some mondo tips (can take anywhere from that day to a few days after). Think about it, I just placed a delivery order for $300 in groceries and the dude bringing it is giving me confidence it's not gonna get screwed up, what's a $20 tip when I just dropped $300? Again, this isn't always going to happen but it happens more when you do it right. Also it's common to pick up multiple orders from a place like Walmart while sitting there waiting. The 4-5 batch Walmart orders are the bomb because each order is going to be a few small items and the drop offs are always close, easy to make $20-$30 in less than an hour with those. Then imagine if just one of those 4-5 people tip. It adds up!! Those batch orders make you scan the bag at pick up and drop off which makes it harder to screw up, by the way!
Side tip: per tip #2 these grocery pick up people will remember you, and they see who's picking up when you arrive. They like you, they make things go faster. I get out of my car and help them load and ask how their day is going. You've got to imagine a lot of people treat them like dirt! They'll appreciate and remember you and it will put more money in your pocket!
Miscellaneous add ons:
Lots of people have some kind of camera, place food gently not blocking an opening door and respect their property!
People will suck. You can't escape that anywhere you go! If they select "hand it to me" and then never answer the door or phone, the app has prompts to wait (it's just 5 minutes) and then leave the food. Karma people!
Text pictures!!!!!!! Before the app mandated that you take a picture I ALWAYS did and still do. Those text messages are saved to doordash and can save you from sucky people. Try to get the house number or something distinguishing so you cover yourself.
Be nice to support people, come on. Some person is on the other end getting chewed out all day over things they didn't cause. (Of course they outsource the call center to a foreign country, it's a for profit business). Be nice and you'll get better service. You'd be surprised how much they can do for you. I've had plenty of times where the support rep was able to pay me extra for trouble I couldn't prevent.
In closing, remember it's a gig job. You can make decent money but you've got to do it right to make it!
Edit: I talked about wearing a shirt, which I'll still do, but others have pointed out it highlights you for potential robbery. The car magnet can potentially cause problems with your insurance if you get in an accident so I won't be using that! Thanks to the people adding information.

________

Off-White Industrial Belts

- Black. Yellow, and Silver | 150cm | PayPal $21.99 Shipped | Cash App/Venmo price shipped - $19.99

One of Off-White's more viral pieces, The Off-White industrial tie-down strap belts are durable and overall fun to wear and look at, with their "5400lb Weight Securing System". Just put the belt on like normal, feed through the buckle, and pull, when you have it how you want it to let go of the buckle and the teeth secure it in place.
These feature a matte finish on the metal buckle and tip both include OW branding on them. The buckle piece has a great weight to it and the metal-tipped end looks great.
150cm = 59" - These belts are meant to wrap around and hang down. My favorite is the Black w/Black Buckle since it's very subtle and works well with everything, but if you want to be seen wearing it then I'd suggest the Yellow or Silver both with black buckles.
The only flaw I know of these belts containing is the W spacing, but like with all reps there are always something off.

It's an amazing conversation piece and will make people wonder how bad you really are with money....but they don't need to know it's a rep and you didn't actually pay $111 (StockX average price).
They come with a line to hang them up and be blown up by mouth in under 5 minutes via the top port. If you are very dedicated, you can go to any party city or Walmart and get helium to make it float for a while.

Vivienne Westwood Armour Ring SOLD OUT

- 4 linked armor pieces | Sz: 5 Ring | PayPal $29.99 Shipped | Cash App/Venmo price $25.99 shipped

Be prepared at all times with this Armour ring, the 4 links can protect inches of your body when in dire times. This ring is very out there as far as regular jewelry goes. I first saw this on the hand of my friend and started looking if there were reps, I had to meet a minimum so this is the other one. I've been wearing it on and off for the 3 weeks since I made a guide on how to resize this ring (linked below). It hasn't tarnished but I don't get reactions to mixed metals like some do so buy with caution or break out that clear polish.
This ring will limit movement in the ring you put it on a little. It's just how it is with the armor plates and links, you can still use your hand normally though. The ring was a little difficult to get a none modified size since it's curved a little, and has two different parts for your finger to go through. The flaws on this that I know of are the Westwood logo being a little dull and not well sharply defined, and no branding on it, I thought retail has branding inside it but I can't confirm at the moment so I'll listed it as a flaw.

What A Day: Budget Crunch by Sarah Lazarus & Crooked Media (02/05/21)

"I woke up early this morning literally laughing." - Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is not mad, and who is laughing, actually

No Budge In Budget

Democrats have set the stage to pass President Biden’s coronavirus relief package without waiting around for Republicans to not vote for it anyway, in a very exciting illustration of what can happen when Democrats a) win elections and b) decide to act like it.
The biggest takeaway from Friday’s votes is that Joe Biden and congressional Democrats don’t plan to waste any time on further negotiations.
Friday developments brought a major relief package one step closer to reality, and also drew an important boundary around Joe Biden’s pursuit of bipartisanship cooperation: It can’t come at the expense of the need in the country. As White House press secretary Jen Psaki said perfectly today, “He didn't run on a promise to unite the Democratic and Republican parties into one party.” (You listening, Jysten Smanchin?)

Look No Further Than The Crooked Media

A new episode of Rubicon is out now! This week Brian Beutler talks to climate-science writer Emily Atkin about the predictable first steps President Biden has taken to fight climate change, and the exciting but under-the-radar ways that Biden has woven climate science into offices throughout his administration. New episodes are out every Friday, make sure to subscribe to Rubicon wherever you get your pods

Under The Radar

Early efforts to reduce jail populations during the pandemic have been reversed in a number of major cities. In some cities, including New York City, Chicago, Houston, and Miami, jail populations that declined briefly in early 2020 have returned to pre-pandemic levels. Many cities initially released thousands of people who were detained pretrial, but that didn’t amount to any kind of meaningful, long-term shift, and as officials allow jail populations to creep back up (mostly by refusing to release people detained pretrial, even if they pose no immediate danger), devastating coronavirus outbreaks have followed. In some cities, severe court slowdowns and failures to take preventative measures within jail systems have exacerbated the problem. As of February 2, more than 452,000 incarcerated people and prison staff across the country have contracted coronavirus, and nearly 2,400 have died.

What Else?

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has ordered more than 1,000 active duty troops to help speed up state vaccination efforts, and the Biden administration announced that it will use the Defense Production Act to boost supplies of PPE and scale up vaccine production.
Parler offered the Trump Organization a 40 percent stake in the company if Donald Trump made it his primary social network—while Trump was still in office. The deal seems to have been former Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale’s brilliant idea, but it was shut down after the White House counsel’s office caught wind of it.
Joe Biden said he doesn't think Trump should continue to receive classified intelligence briefings, citing his erratic behavior: "What impact does he have at all, other than the fact he might slip and say something?"
Reps. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) and Andrew Clyde (R-GA) have been fined $5000 for bypassing the House’s new metal detectors, after the House passed a rules change earlier this week to mandate fines for members who evade security protocols.
Amazon failed to delay a unionization vote by its warehouse workers in Bessemer, AL, for the second time. Some 6,000 Amazon employees will begin sending in their votes on Monday.
Fox News has canceled Lou Dobbs Tonight, a day after the voting machine company Smartmatic filed a $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News, Dobbs, and two other hosts.
A Trump-appointed federal judge has approved Capitol insurrectionist Jenny Cudd’s request to go on vacation in Mexico, after Cudd was indicted on five federal charges. Cool cool cool cool cool. (That judge, Trevor McFadden, also blocked the release of Trump's tax returns for made-up nonsense reasons.)
Moderators of the /WallStreetBets subreddit have turned on each other over the sale of movie rights to their story. A sad day when a group of people brought together by a shared desire to get rich quick are torn asunder by money, of all things.
OAN spent the day airing MyPillow guy Mike Lindell’s “documentary” about how the election was stolen for 12 straight hours, prefaced by a 90-second disclaimer about how OAN does not endorse anything the MyPillow guy might have to say about voting machine companies.
David Hogg plans to launch his own pillow company to “put MyPillow out of business.” Lie Down with Hoggs? Let Sleeping Hoggs Lie? David and Go-Lyeth? We offer up any of these perfect names in exchange for a humble podcast sponsorship.
Speaking of which (unfortunately), Mike Pence will launch his own podcast. Say what you will about Mike Pence, but no one ever gets bored of listening to that guy talk.
Actor Christopher Plummer has died, at age 91. Here’s a great bit from Plummer’s memoir about his sudden realization that The Sound of Music was...good.

Be Smarter

New Israeli studies found that the country’s rapid vaccine rollout has dramatically driven down coronavirus cases. Israel has outpaced every other country in vaccinating its population, and rates of both infections and hospitalizations among people who were vaccinated (in this first study, people 60 years and older) fell quickly in just a few weeks. Researchers were able to isolate other factors that reduce the number of infections, including lockdowns, and concluded that even taking those factors into account, the vaccines had a significant impact. Early data also suggested that the vaccines are working nearly as well in the real world as they did in clinical trials. Those results won’t be a breeze to replicate, with contagious variants on the loose and vaccines still in short supply, and Israel itself is still under a nationwide lockdown, but it’s a heartening first glimpse of vaccinations beginning to curb the pandemic in practice.

Some other great resources include Lopp.net, Gigi's resource page, and James D'Angelo's Bitcoin 101 Blackboard series.
Some excellent writing on Bitcoin's value proposition and future can be found at the Satoshi Nakamoto Institute.
Some Bitcoin statistics can be found here, here and here. Developer resources can be found here. Peer-reviewed research papers can be found here, also course lectures from the Princeton crypto series.
Potential upcoming protocol improvements and scaling resources here and here.
The number of times Bitcoin was declared dead by the media can be found here (LOL!)

Here is a listing of local ATMs.

Websites like bitcoin(dot)com and the btc subreddit are active scams. Almost all altcoins (shitcoins) are marketed heavily with big promises but are really just designed to separate you from your bitcoin. So be careful: any resource, including all linked in this document, may in the future turn evil. As they say in our community, "Don't trust, verify".

Where can I spend bitcoin?

Check out spendabit or bitcoin directory for millions of merchant options. Also you can spend bitcoin anywhere visa is accepted with bitcoin debit cards such as the CashApp card or Fold card. Some other useful site are listed below.

Gyft Gift cards for hundreds of retailers including Amazon, Target, Walmart, Starbucks, Whole Foods, CVS, Lowes, Home Depot, iTunes, Best Buy, Sears, Kohls, eBay, GameStop, etc.

Coinmap and AirBitz are helpful to find local businesses accepting bitcoin. A good resource for UK residents is at wheretospendbitcoins.co.uk.
There are also lots of charities which accept bitcoin donations.

Merchant Resources

There are several benefits to accepting bitcoin as a payment option if you are a merchant;
If you are interested in accepting bitcoin as a payment method, there are several options available;

Can I mine bitcoin?

Mining bitcoin can be a fun learning experience, but be aware that you will most likely operate at a loss. Newcomers are often advised to stay away from mining unless they are only interested in it as a hobby similar to folding at home. If you want to learn more about mining you can read more here. Still have mining questions? The crew at /BitcoinMining would be happy to help you out.
If you want to contribute to the bitcoin network by hosting the blockchain and propagating transactions you can run a full node. You can view the global node distribution here.

Earning bitcoin

Just like any other form of money, you can also earn bitcoin by being paid to do a job.

The Transplant's Guide to Laredo

Buen día!
Welcome to The Gateway City. You're probably reading this because you are relocating to Laredo for work. Moving somewhere new can always be a chaotic experience, but I hope this extensive guide on all aspects of Laredo living will help make your time in Laredo as memorable as mine was. Grab a Dos XX with Tajin or a Margarita and enjoy. A bit about myself: I lived in Laredo from early 2016 - to late 2017 after I graduated from college for work. I periodically go back to visit friends since I live in Houston now. I didn't make a ton of money when I was there for my flying job, but I still had the time of my life. Please keep in mind these are my opinions and thoughts from my time there. I had a blast being there in my early 20's, but I know priorities and interests change as people age, however, I've tried to be objective when writing this guide for everyone.
Mods please please feel free to pin this post to help others out down the road.

Overall thoughts:
The best way I can describe Laredo is that it's like you took a trip to Mexico, but you get to keep all the cool benefits of being in the United States. It's kind of the best of both worlds, and I found both the people and culture of Laredo to be great. There is nothing like grinding at work during the week just to make it to hang out at the pool day drinking with your friends doing Carne's (short for Carneasada aka cookouts), going out, and the afters (after parties) on the weekends. Oh, I forget to mention the food is AWESOME. Also worth noting, anyone that is not Latino in Laredo is a minority which is kind of a cool experience in itself.

The Weather:
Take a look at your weather app for Laredo right now, if it's winter you'll notice that it's probably in the 50-70 degree range. In very rare circumstances it has snowed in Laredo, but being from the Midwest I found the winters are super mild. Summer on the other hand is a whole other animal, expect hot temps in the low 100's especially in mid to late summer. In reality, there is Summer and Fall in Laredo. Fortunately, it is a normally dry heat. It can get slightly humid though if the winds are out of the East from the Gulf, but it depends on the day. It's usually sunny a majority of the time though which is cool. Your summer wardrobe will be in use 9-10 months of the year.

Where to live:
Like anything this depends on your budget, however, Laredo is a very affordable city when it comes to renting and buying. I lived off Bob Bullock Loop and 359 (Southside). Like anything, economically driven rent in the city fluctuates but is extremely affordable compared to almost any other city. I paid 1000/mo for a nicer 2 bed 2 bath. Around town, a nice one bed runs in the 600-850/mo range and 2/2 runs in the 1100-1200/mo area at the nicer complexes.
My roommate and I lived where we did because we flew out of the airport so it was a quick drive for us, but if I had to do it again, I would have probably lived in a bit more of a "busier" part of town in the McPherson and Delmar area or on the north side since we found ourselves driving there when we'd go out most of the time. This area is also considered to be some of the more "higher end" part of town with nicer houses and stuff. apartments.com has been my go-to source the past 6 times I've moved, give it a look if you are shopping around.
I highly recommend picking a place with a pool and/or a grill if you're remotely interested in that sort of thing. Due to Laredo's climate the pool and grilling out are a way of life. It's also a great place to meet people.

Getting Around:
Having a vehicle is the most practical answer for Laredo, however, Uber and Lyft markets have popped up in the last few years. The bus system for the city is called El Metro. Laredo is pretty easy to get around, the only major highway is 35 which starts at the river (the Rio Grande crossing downtown) and goes to points North like SA, Austin, and Dallas. Bob Bullock Loop orbits the city to the East.
**Important Notes About Driving in Laredo*\*: Uninsured motorists are abundant meaning expect some sort of increase in your car insurance. I thought I knew how to drive until I came to Laredo. People drive fast, yellow lights mean speed up, and red lights/stop signs are optional. For some reason, drunk driving is also a very abundant thing, especially in the evenings/late night hours. I'm hoping this issue has improved since I lived there since Uber and Lyft are now a thing. Either way, stay alert, be a defensive driver, and you'll be fine.

What to do:
Many locals cite "things to do" while living in Laredo to be the toughest category to fill. Bottom line, it's a small town, however, there is something for everyone in town!
Bars:
Going out is the big thing to do in town most weekends as drinking is considered one of the biggest activities. I loved it, but I also know it's not for everyone. However, there are a wide variety of bars to pick from each having a different vibe. I've listed some of my favorites below. A lot of bars/restaurants have a DJ or band after a certain time. Bars are spread out across the city, but cluster in the McPherson/DelmaJacaman (pronounced Haca-man) area and now downtown. Bars close at 2 AM but people love to party till the sun comes up so after-parties at people’s houses are common.
Restaurants:
So many good ones that can range from cheap to expensive, but the food is good at all of them! Here is my list of local spots, but Yelp is usually a good place to check for updated options.
Activities:
https://www.facebook.com/365thingslaredo Is a great group to follow to get daily updates on things going on around Laredo.

Where to shop:
This one is a big no brainer for me personally, but HEB, the big Texas grocery chain, is the move. They have great selections (especially their meat and produce) and pretty good prices. If you want to save a bit more, Fiesta or Walmart is your only other big options that are worth a look. Laredo also has any major brick and mortar retail store Best Buy etc and a Mall with all the normal Mall stores. The outlet mall on the river is a super cool spot to I recommend doing some retail therapy at.

Where to Workout/Active Stuff:
There are all sorts of gyms between cross fit, yoga, Orange Theory, and your brick and mortar gyms (Crunch, Anytime, Golds, etc.) If you're into outdoorsy trail stuff North Central Park has a nice set of trails and Lake Casablanca State Park on the East side has some pretty good trails for the area also. If golfing is your thing there are a couple of golf courses, Casablanca Golf Course is your run of the mill Par 3 and the Laredo Country Club is the nice golf course in town. I know Laredo also has some rec sports adult leagues if you're into that like Flag football and stuff, Google should be able to help you find out more about those.

Safety and Crossing the border:
Laredo like any mid-size city has its share of crime, however, there is a very large presence of Local and State Police, DEA, FBI, and Border Patrol in the city due to its proximity to Mexico. Like any major city, lock your doors and take out any valuables in your car. The few homeless people stick to the I-35 corridor mostly. Lock your doors and windows and you'll be fine. There are sketchier parts of town the further south you go, but I never had issues as many of these people are often very humble and respectful people.
Cartels:
I remember watching the Border Wars show before I moved and thinking "Oh shit, what did I sign up for?" Cartels are simply a reality of life especially on the border, but they also exist in any major city around the world, they just happen to be a bit more prevalent in their activities at the border. They exist and have a hand in many things both in Nuevo Laredo and Laredo (businesses, politics, etc.). Like anywhere keep a street smart head, vigilant attitude, and don't hang out with the wrong types of people and you will be fine in Laredo. LADIES, please carry some sort of protection with you like mace and stay in groups when out, especially when downtown.
Crossing:
I'll start with this disclaimer that I'm a 6' white guy, so I don't blend in that well. However, I dated a girl I met at a bar who lived across in Nuevo Laredo for 10 months so I got my full share of the crossing experiences. I'm witting this during COVID times so things are a bit different atm. The crossing is an experience I could and probably should do a thread about on its own, but I'll summarize what I can here.
There are two ways to cross: 1. Driving or 2. Taking the footbridge both located downtown. I walked every time because my GF at the time would pick me up on the other side, but a word of caution. If you drive understand that having non-expired US plates and a nice car makes you a target for robbings and other non-fun stuff. I recommend getting a bank such as Charles Schwab with zero international ATM fee's and that gives you a 1:1 exchange rate when pulling out cash from an ATM, however, the border exchange places near the bridges work in a pinch. Cash is king there. If you do cross you need to at least have a remote working knowledge of the Spanish language or be with someone who does, it's amazing how different life can be across a 20-foot body of water.
I often heard stories where people crossed to go to places like Jose Frog's and other bars and shops every weekend in the ‘80s, but times have unfortunately changed since. There were relatively calm periods and today there are periods of literal war in the streets. Please ask one of the many locals that commute to Laredo daily for work if they think it is safe to cross for that day since it is truly a dynamic environment. If you work in any sort of government or law enforcement line of work, DO NOT CROSS.
If you do want to cross, understand that I recommend the following:
Looking back I was pretty reckless at times when I went across because I was with my GF, her brothers, or her family most of the time so I felt relatively safe. Please live through my experiences if you are dying to push the envelope with crossing. If you're considering a visit to "La Zona", don't. It's cool, but you can get the same experience in Vegas without the fear of being kidnapped or killed. Going out over there is super cheap, but the bars all pay a "toll" to the cartels weekly to operate. It's not out of the ordinary for Federales/Cartel to come through a packed bar with AR-15's or the cartel to kick everyone out if the business didn't pay that week. We got stopped by the cartel a few times asking why I was visiting so much. They watch the bridges 24/7, they know the second you step on their turf, and they know what you do and who you do it with. Remember that you can also easily get mixed up with the wrong people on the Laredo side of the river which is equally as dangerous. Know who your friends are!

Closing tips:
-Laredo is what you make it, if you do nothing and sit around it’s going to suck so make the best of it.
-I wish my Spanish was a bit better before I moved there. It comes in handy A TON as Spanish is the preferred language and a majority of folks speak it. Knowing it will make your life easier.
- Get one of those windshield sun shades for your car, they are a necessity in the hot weather
- Gentlemen. If your single don’t be creepy, go talk to that girl and ask her to dance! Latin culture is very cool, open, confident, and fun.
- Embrace the culture and enjoy it
- Go to a Quinceañera and a traditional Mexican wedding
- Learn how to Line Dance and Cumbia!
